ARBRE activities are currently coordinated by 3 working groups:
1) Benchmarking, Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Technology awareness
Chairs:
- Arthur SEDIVY (BOKU University, Vienna, Austria)
- Stephan UEBEL (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany)
This working group has three categories of objectives:
1 – Benchmarking of techniques and standards
- Carrying out multi-laboratory benchmarking actions to evaluate different techniques, standard systems and other topics
- Monitoring and referencing already existing relevant benchmarking actions
2 – Standard operating procedures (SOPs) and databases
- Generating SOPs for techniques for which they are missing
- Monitoring and referencing already existing relevant SOPs
- Creating a database of key reference literature for each ARBRE technique and other relevant databases
3 – Technology awareness
- Monitoring and disseminating information about emerging technological developments
- Creating a moderated forum to discuss about technological/methodological issues encountered by ARBRE members, exchange information about novel technologies and share tips and tricks
2) Membership & communication
Chairs:
- Patrick ENGLAND (Institut Pasteur, Paris, France)
- Pedro TAVARES (NOVA School of Science and Technology, Lisbon, Portugal)
This working group has two categories of objectives:
1 – Membership:
- identifying and attracting potential ARBRE members, individually (personal contacts, e-mails, …) or collectively (in physical events, or remotely using mailing lists or other electronic means)
- drawing up pitches and lists of arguments to attract new members and retain existing members, showcasing ARBRE’s value proposition.
2 – Communication:
Developing and continuously updating internal and external communication media:
- Website
- Roll-ups and posters
- Flyers
- Powerpoint presentations
- Social media
- Newsletters
Developing ARBRE’s visual identity
3) Training and scientific meetings
Chairs:
- to be announced soon
This working group has two categories of objectives:
1 – Training
- Organizing or co-organizing training schools, courses and practical workshops on different techniques and methodological topics, notably on protein quality control and biomolecular interaction characterization
- Monitoring and disseminating information about non-ARBRE relevant training initiatives
2 – Scientific meetings
- Organizing and co-organizing conferences and other meetings, as well as scientific sessions within existing congresses, notably on “breakthrough methods in molecular biophysics”
- Monitoring and disseminating information about non-ARBRE relevant conferences and scientific events
